- I suspect that scala is a bit too sensitive to the timing variations
- coming from the vcr, which with a skew tension error thrown in for
- good measure, could well exceed 40 microseconds per vertical
- interval. That is more than 1/2 a horizontal line!

- The only *real* cure is prolly going to be in the form of a
- stable time base at the input, established by running the vcr thru a
- time base corrector (TBC) of a full fledged synchronizer. I have
- seen other "workarounds", but even if it "worked", the output pix
- quality wasn't anything I'd allow to be broadcast if I thought an FCC
- monitor van was within 200 miles!

- Better yet, trade the "consumer" vcr in on one of the JVC 22 (622
- play only, 822 record/play) series machines with a builtin tbc.
- We've used them as our on-air playbacks for the last year. Great
- Super VHS pix, <$3k US I think.
